Switching between the Easy and Advanced Admin Interfaces

We all know that doing anything fancy involving IT is not always the easiest thing in the world. Also if you’re encouraging younger students to use technology in the classroom you want to keep things as simple as possible.

That’s why by default when you create a new blog you’ll be presented with the Easy Admin Interface, which is a simplified version of the full Admin Interface designed to cater for the main things you’d want to do with your blog. However as you become more comfortable with blogging and want to customise and do more with your blog, you may want to move to the Full or Advanced Admin Interface.

Here’s a brief run down of what you can do with each interface.

Easy Admin Interface

  • Write new blog posts.
  • Manage existing blog posts.
  • Write new pages
  • Manage existing pages.
  • Manage Comments
  • Edit your profile

Advanced Admin Interface

NOTE: Some feature are only available to Supporters.

  • Everything you can do in Easy Admin plus…
  • Media – Upload and manage files (pictures, documents, audio, video etc).
  • Links – Create and manage links to other websites.
  • Appearance – Customise your themes header, colour scheme, layout etc
  • Widgets – Add extra little ‘apps’ to display on your blog.
  • Users – Create and manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Plugins – Extend the functionality of your blog.
  • Settings – Change a whole range of options from the blog title and tagline to privacy and who can submit comments.

To switch between the two modes click on the button in the top right of the Admin Interface.
